Tcm-wm Therapy On Cytokines And Prognosis In Patients With Sepsis

Purpose:To observe the TCM-WM therapy on the therapeutic effect in patients with sepsis, while observing the effects of their cytokines.Methods:40 sepsis patients were enrolled in this study and classified into two groups randomly.20 patients were treated with WM and TCM 100ml/day, bid, po, a total of 10 days,20 as controls with WM. In two groups before and after treatment to all patients TCM syndrome score, APACHE II score, comparing the mortality rate after treatment, while testing of all selected cases of venous blood cytokines (tumor necrosis factor, interleukin-6, IL-10) lever.Results:There was no significantly difference at the beginning of treatment between the two groups (P>0.05). TCM symptom score and APACHEⅡscore were decreased after treatment in both groups, but it's lower in TCM-WM group than in controls (P<0.01), and the mortality was significantly lower in TCM-WM group than in controls (P<0.05) Cytokines as TNF-α,IL-6,IL-10 were decreased in both groups, in the end of treatment they're lower in TCM-WM group than in controls (P<0.01), in which TNF-a, IL-6 than IL-10 decline more evident (P<0.01)Conclusions:TCM-WM therapy can significantly improve clinical effectiveness of sepsis patients, reduce the cytokines,reduce the mortality. The mechanism is related to reducing the inflammatory and anti-inflammatory overreaction,to correct internal environment disorder, and thus restore the balance between immunity.
