More than 500 spices of about 90 genera Umbelliferae plants are grown in China. Plants of Umbelliferae family are widely used as vegetable and flavor, and also widely used to treat cough, fever, headache and other disease. Umbelliferae family as one of the most evolutional family with complex chemical components has considerable potential in new medicine creative and pesticide development. In this paper, 12 genera of Umbelliferae plants were screened for their antifungal properties, and the results are obtained as follows:1. The antifungal activity of 12 Umbelliferae plant acetone extracts was tested by agar dilution method against 7 plant pathogens. The results showed extracts of Apium graveolens, Ferula ferulaeoides, Angelica sinensis, Cnidium monnieri had more than 50% antifungal rate against 2 or more plant pathogens under the concentration of 0.01g/mL.2. Antifungal activity of the extracts from different parts of Apium graveolens, Daucus carota, Coriandrum sativum and Ferula ferulaeoides was test. The highest antifungal part of Apium graveolens, Daucus carota and Coriandrum sativum is fruit. Under the concentration of 0.1g/mL, extract of Apium graveolens fruit has 100% inhibition rate against all 7 plant pathogens; extract of Daucus carota fruit has above 50% inhibition rate against 6 of the 7 plant pathogens; extract Coriandrum sativum fruit has above 80% inhibition rate against Rhizoctonia solani and Botrytis cinerea. Rhizome is the highest antifungal parts of Ferula ferulaeoides with above 50% inhibition rate against all 7 plant pathogens.3. Dynamic antifungal toxicity of Apium graveolens extract against Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporium were test, the result shows that EC50 against Fusarium oxysporium increased with time from 454.85μg/ml to 2689.01μg/ml, the EC50 against Rhizoctonia solani changed little.4. Antifungal activity of Apium graveolens extracts from different solution was test; the extract from petroleum ether has the most antifungal activity. EC50 against Rhizoctonia solani, Alternaria fasciculate and Fusarium oxysporium were 623.5304μg/mL,1161.8526μg/mL and 411.7847μg/mL。5. 19 fractions were separated from petroleum ether extract of Apium graveolens by column chromatography method. The fraction with highest antifungal activity was sample QCZ04 with above 50% inhibition rate against Rhizoctonia solani, Alternaria fasciculate and Fusarium oxysporium.6. GC/MS analysis of fraction QCZ04 showed that this fraction contains three compounds : 3-(3,4-Dimethylbenzoyl) propionic acid (32.58%),p-Heptylphenol(26.91%) and p-(2-aminoethyl)-phenal(38.5%)...
