This paper, combined a construction project in progress, rebuilds spillway tunnels based on the original diversion tunnels and tries to take glory hole spillway tunnels as reconstructed body type, And then, studied engineering with glory hole spillway tunnels by the methods of hydraulic calculation, model test and theoretical analysis. This paper also adjusted and optimized the original design by the way of stepwise analysis and comparative analysis. Finally, we obtained an reasonable body type which can safe operation in all kinds of working condition, and the body type was tested by other hydraulic characteristics .Thereby we achieved some creative,practical and worthwhile results.(1) It is proposed firstly that a parabolic-type catchment received from the rotary device ellipse tangent to the particular type size, and analyzed the hydraulic characteristics by model investigations. It provided reliable basis for the application of practical projects.(2) It adjusted and optimized to the vortex chamber shape of tangent lines from the rotary-type device by the method of model test, and achieved more reasonable forms.It provide- s a good reference for practical engineering design of the vortex chamber in future.(3) It advances the theoretical foundations that tangential rotary device straight from the improvement of the ellipse tangent to the type of rotary device through theory analysis, and determines the optimal elliptic curve equation through comparative analysis.
