The Chinese traditional vernacular dwelling have distinct characteristics, which are with special modelling, splendid manners and delicate ornaments, also radiate deeply cultural foundation and historical background through thousands of years. They advocate something unique. The research centre of this paper, the Wei's Manor, is the typical representative of the vernacular dwelling in north of Shandong Province. These groups of manor' s constructions, which are the solo construction groups resisted in the North of china, are considered the significant places and substantial scenes to recognize and investigate the economics and constructional culture of the semi-colony and semi-feudal society .They are one epitome of country in north of Shandong province, china and also a profile of the development history in Chinese society.The Wei' s manor , which was built by a merchant in Qing Dynasty with huge investment and composed by Shude Hall, Xiyi Hall and Fushou Hall , is the typical dwelling house combined constructional styles of quadrangle dwellings in Beijing and vernacular dwelling in north of Shandong province. The Shude Hall follows the basic style of quadrangle dwellings in the North, reflects the traditional proprieties. In the other hand, high city walls surrounding the manor and strict defensive systems in the constructive design were applied to defence enemies and flood of the Yellow River. All these designs were closely-related with the historical background and natural environment.A lot of low-cost constructive techniques, including the systematic draining piping, the hire-defence design and the heating design were used in the construction of the manor, which give many suggestions to the house building and construction design.The design of Shude Hall's warm facility is particular. It had imitated the facility of palace. And according to the practical condition and the dwelling characteristics in north of Shandong Province generated the Shude Hall ground heated brick bed.Meanwhile, the decoration of Wei's manor used the criterion of "the magic arts nature". It kept the nature colour and mark of the wood, stone and bricks. To express the chase of happiness the ornamental patterns contain always lucky meanings.This treatise involves the building characters, the ornamental arts and the culture contents of Wei's manor. With references from the other manors and analysis of the resent maintenance of Wei's manor makes some suggestions to protect and exploit the Wei's manor.
