In the mid-20th century, the world has started the waterfront area development upsurge. The waterfront area development's dominant character was the spatial functionhas had the replacement——industry function drop and the leisure functionenhancement. So the economical development has had the important society, the economy, the environment benefit in enhancing the urban environment, and richening civic culture style and so on aspects.Through analyzing the domestic and foreign outstanding cases, reading absorptioncorrelation theories work, obtains, I search for the corresponding relationships——behavior - place (place - behavior) from the human to the spatial cognition research. This article studies attention from the pure material space design and the monomer construction spatial domain influence, shifts attribute contrasts to the peripheral public opening space to its society. This article carries on the induction summary and the theory promotion to the waterfront business area's open space design element and the design method, summarizes the place spirit building experience, and provides for now waterfront business area's public opening space's design and the environmental construction uses for reference. Not only this considered from the economic aspect, moreover is the hope awakens the human nature and the sentimental recovery through the place experience.The author participated in the large-scale urban design case during the study-The Urban Design of commercial and cultural core area of Laiwu Muwen River. According to the local material and cultural resources and geological status of land for construction purposes of Laiwu, I applied the theory design experience to the actual urban space design, and strive to create a context of local traditions, to show the face of modern life in public places, and to meet local residents and foreign tourists space for the material and spiritual needs of attribution.The author chose the contemporary waterfront business district of public open space as research, and analyzed the evolution outside the modern business environment, the factors that led people's shopping habits and perceptions, the material and cultural factors of location on the waterfront and open regional trade zones, to promote a "place" effect in space design. After finishing the final number of outstanding theoretical and practical case, the author put forward a set of design objectives and design principles for waterfront public open space, especially for the public open space of waterfront business district.The author hope that through the above-mentioned study, the readers would have further understanding to modern waterfront business district, and the paper would provide useful reference work for public open space design of waterfront business district in future.
