Aiming at the climate condition such as the winter chilly, the summer intensive ultraviolet radiation and high temperature, as well as the heavy traffic load condition of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, application of GTM design method of asphalt mixture was studied by indoor testing and site supervision surrported with the Gi-ning to Feng-zhen expressway pavement engineering of the Erlian Haote to Guangzhou National Trunk Line (G208 Line).To solve the problem that adhesive characteristic between the local acid rock and bituminous is bad, this paper analyzed the influence of calcium oxide on the adhesive characteristic and the asphalt mixture road performance by testing. The result indicated that the calcium oxide can advance the mixture strength, improve the stability to water penetration and freeze-thaw. But the dosage of the calcium oxide should be controlled not to overabundance. The dosage of the project is 1.3 percent.Appling the GTM design method, the target and the yielding mix proportion of surface asphalt concrete were designed, validated and applied. The testing result educed that the bituminous content of the asphalt mixture designed by GTM is low, the density is great, and the voids is little. The high-temperature rut resistance, the water stability and the low-temperature crack resistance of the aspalt mixture were improved. The constructing technics and the quality control of the asphalt surface were studied. In order to compact and mold the asphalt mixture during the short effective compacting time, the Ambiguous Compacting Method should be applied, compacting shoud be continuous, the mixing plants should be normal and in better station, and the temperature of mixture leaving should be higher. At the same time, the tonnage of the compacter must be enough and the number margin. The construction and detection of the Gi-ning to Feng-zhen expressway pavement indicated that the road perfoemance of the asphalt concrete designed with GTM are better, and the GTM is feasible to the asphalt pavement in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
