Control power supply is an important component of electric locomotive, which has direct impact to the operation of the locomotive. This paper takes control power supply of electric locomotive as an object, has studied the online fault diagnosis system based on the Multifunction Vehicle Bus (MVB).In this paper, the author analyzes the purpose and significance to research the project firstly, and puts forward a research framework and focus, according to the present development situation of locomotive fault diagnosis technology. And after studying the composing and the theory of control power supply deeply, comparing various kinds of fault diagnosis method, the author decides to use the fault diagnosis method based on graph theory. Then this method is introduced in detail, and is applied in the fault diagnosis of control power supply. Then the author sets up the fault propagation digraph, adjacent matrix, attainable matrix and level structuring graph for control power supply.As an online system, communication problem of equipment and train network is obviously a focus in the paper. The diagnosis system studied in article uses the MVB controller to communicate with train network. In the paper, after comparing several study method and researching the principle of MVB communication, the author proposes the design of the MVB controller using FPGA. This controller conforms to the TCN standard, and has PC104 interface which can well realize the communication between the host computer of fault diagnosis and train network.The article chooses the PC104 embedded industrial control computer as the host computer of fault diagnosis. It has several merits such as small size, low power consumption, easy to develop and so on. These characteristic make the system extend easily and reduce the difficulty of designing, and can shorten the design cycle, help to products going to the market.
