With the rapid development of urban construction and high-grade roads, multi-function of environmental and sanitary vehicles has become a development direction. Combining the functions of road sweeper and guardrail cleaner and developing multi-functional environmental and sanitary vehicle have very practical meaning.The research object of the paper is a kind of new front brush used in large road sweeper. The starting point in design of the device is to give consideration to the double functions of cleaning roads and guardrail. Through the analysis and research on working characteristics and performance under the two working states, the overall design scheme is determined.To guarantee the work efficiency of the front brush, two problems must be particularly solved: one is how to realize automatic pressure adjustment of the tray brush to ground; the other is how to guarantee the uniform pressure of the rolling brush to guardrail when the guardrail is cleaned. The analysis and calculation for the existing adjustment method of ground-touch pressure are performed in the paper. A kind of angle lever mechanism is used to control the ground-touch pressure of the tray brush, which effectively solves the problem of large fluctuation in ground-touch pressure. In the design of rolling brush, spring prevention device is used to guarantee that the pressure of the rolling brush to guardrail is basically constant during working process. Optimum design method is used in the research of the two problems. The optimum parameters of the mechanism is calculated through theoretical analysis and modeling. 3D software SolidWorks is used to establish the model of the tray brush mechanism on the basis of optimum results, and SolidWorks built-in dynamic simulation software COSMOSMotion is used to perform dynamic simulation for the tray brush. And the obtained result proves the correctness of theoretical calculation. COSMOSMotion is used to perform simulation of gyratory motion of the tray brush, and the influence of each mechanism parameter on characteristics of gyratory motion is analyzed by combining dynamics. The motion simulation effectively improves the design efficiency.The hydraulic system meeting working requirements is designed on the basis of structure analysis, and proximity switch is used to control the action of electromagnetic valve of the hydraulic system which guarantees that the rolling brush can automatically control the position at normal work state when guardrail is cleaned.
