In recent years, along with the improvement of worldwide industry, auto control field also has made a great progress, and thus has promoted the development of electrical control techniques in container cranes. As an application research for the electrical control techniques, which are applied in RTG, this article has given deep investigations to the involved theoretical issues and explored the feasibility of these theories which are used in the transformation project of existing RTGs owned by Xiamen Port Dongdu company.Firstly, this article describes the project background, the overview of the research on current electrical control system in domestic and abroad, and the content and significance of this paper. It discusses the working problems of Mitsui RTG, depending on which the paper gives the electric transformation goal. Although AC speed regulation controlled by Frequency is better than DC Speed Regulation, DC Speed Regulation is used as the speed regulation for electric transformed of governor. It has carried on abundant analysis to compare and prove to the precision and the reliability in the feasibility of electric transformation, which uses digital DC speed adjustor. According to the control request, MENTOR II digital DC speed adjustor and PLC make up the main part of the electric system, which is designed in details in the paper. The improved system, not only has the basic functions needed, but also has the connections between intelligent devices such as industry computer. And the intelligent protection control system and the monitoring system are designed for the whole RTG Because the final operation of the system is faced to the port worker, there is this theme a discussion in detail on how to carry on operating modes to debug actuallyIt solved that frequent in trouble on and influence equipment normal operation, the question of low grade of mechanical efficiency since many years of the past, through the transformation. The application of the techniques and the transformation gets great improvement on various performance index of the RTG. The obtained experience of successful transformation on one of 4 RTGs is helpful to the improvements to other three. Now, many ports in China are facing problems about equipments transformation, while considering quality, quantity, improvement, condition, money and time. Maybe there are some good spots in this paper.
