The objective of investigation is a type of special semi-trailer which carries someimportant facilities. It is very necessary to investigate the ride of automobile to avoid itsfacilities are damaged by the vibration engendered in riding. For improving the facilities'working environment and reducing semi-trailer body damage, the newly developed designmethods to improve the riding quality have been suggested in this paper.It is of great importance to properly grasp the road disturbance in studying the ride ofautomobile. Time series method has been successfully used in simulating many randomfields, and an attempt is made to develop a model of road roughness on the basis of timeseries. In this paper, the instability of AR model is successfully resolved by Levinson-Durbin recursive algorithm. AR model provide typical road model of National Standardsfor the simulation of ride performance.Based on multi-body dynamics and vibration theory, the special semi-trailer issimplified to whole vehicle model with 15 freedoms, and the multi-body dynamics modelof the vehicle is built with ADAMS software, including suspension, tire, stabilizer bar,body, and so on. The parameters of the vehicle modeling are obtained based on blueprintcheck-up, calculations, and CAD modeling. By comparing the road experiment with theresult of simulation, the model is proved to be reliable. By changing some parameter of thesuspension and the tire, we can gain the rule how the ride performance is affected by thisparameter. We can also get the measure to improve the sample vehicle's ride performance.
