Modified Emulsified Asphalt Micro-surfacing Performance Study

Micro-surfacing is an economical preventive maintence technic which has no harm to the environment. It can be easily constructed and the traffic is open quickly. It can renovate rutting and greatly prolong the life of the asphalt pavement. However, it is not widely used in our country.Aiming at the main problems in this technic. this paper studyed on modified asphalt emulsion and micro-surfacing mixture detailedly. The theory of emulsification and deposit stability is analysed. According to the related laboratory tests, it is found that emulsification agents, Ph value, other additive for stability and other factors have important influnce on the performance of residue and deposit stability of the emulsion. The rules are summarized.In addition, the performance, mixing character and surface character of mixture are researched. Basalt and granite are compared. Gradation, the ratio of asphalt and aggregate, dosage of mineral filler and modifier are important factors. Some new test methods and indexes are presented.
