This thesis briefly expounds the basic principles of Spread Spectrum Communication (SSC) and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) techniques, discusses the advantages, disadvantages and the actuality of SSC and OFDM while they both are applied on Power Line carrier communication (PLC).The paper also makes a simple analysis upon the characteristic of PLC. On the basis of this, A PLA system founded on SSC and OFDM is developed. The system is mainly built up with a FPGA and a DSP chip. The research completes the design, facture and debugging of part hardware of the system, and the programming and debugging of the software of the system.The result of the experiments during the research proves that SSC and OFDM are viable.
