Microwave sulfur lamp (MSL) is a kind of effective electrodeless electrical light source. It was thought as the most promising light source of 21th century, considering its spectrum similar to the sun and its good colour randering. For more than 10 years, many countries research it. The design and theory of MSL become mature. But normal bulb of MSL show a green appearance, so it could not be popularize. For many reasons, reserching on MSL had stoped for a long time in China. Recently, an overseas company push a product called Plasma Lighting System (PLS), which is base on the structrue of MSL. It use metal halide as the filling of bulb. Thus, we found the MSL technics has a promising future.Our research on MSL, is to manufacture high-powered microwave light source as well as foreign products. At the same time, it will give a new opportunity to magnetron factories.I assisted in the MSL power source research, and lead the MSL bulb develop. My work include buying material and elements, analyzing theory and patents, simulation, many kinds of experiment and fitting the sample lamp. The apparatus and equipment for experiment include network analyser, nalytical balance, integrating sphere and vacuum exhaust equipment.This article introduces the manufacture method, research production, exist problem, what can be improved and how to improve it. And the content are divided into four sections of power system, waveguide system, bulb and the whole structure design. The content of this article is more abundant than any literature published about MSL. By reading it, anyone who devote into this work will make less mistake, aviod repetition work and find some guide to resolve problems.MSL power source produced by us, is able to control two high voltage transformer in a order, and can stop power supply when meet trouble at starting or meet abnormal extinguishment.
