Valve train system is an important part of automobile engine and its designing level has great influence on the performance, reliability and life-span of engine.Valve-cam mechanism works reliably and has been used widely.In order to realize the automation of designing, calculating, simulation and analyzing of valve train system, the virtual design technology is adopted, and a virtual design system of the valve train system has been investigated.The technologies of virtual design, MATLAB and VRML have been deeply investigated, a method of constructing the virtual design system framework using MATLAB and VRML is put forward based on modularized-designing methods.The design knowledge of the valve train system is studied and programmed for the purpose of integrating it into the virtual design system.The graphic user interface of the system is established.The frameworks of the virtual scene files are planned.The dynamic simulation models of the valve train system are constructed.The interactive function is designed.The real-time displaying and controlling of the three-dimensional graphics is realized.Above tasks are finished by respective advantages of MATLAB and VRML.By mix programming of two kinds of languages, a virtual design system of valve train system of engine has been developed based on Object-Oriented Programming(OOP) and is used in actual example with desirable result.Mix programming technology and interface methods are discussed between MATLAB and VRML and can lay foundation for the further research of the virtual design of valve train system based on MATLAB and VRML.
