As a powerful computing tool in CAE(Computer Aided Engineering), the FEM (Finite Element Method) plays an important role in almost all engineering field. The design of engine's parts is one of the fields in which the FEM was applied firstly. By means of the I-DEAS (Integrated Design Engineering Analysis Software) software, the paper apply the CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology and the FEM to the rotary double wall combustion chamber ----one of key parts of external combustion engine. The process include modeling of the chamber, computing and analyzing of complicated boundary condition, the temperature field ,the stress field and the deformation of the combustion chamber. At last, the paper gives some advices about the structure of the combustion chamber according to the result.Through applying the CAD software, this paper not only finds out the methods and traits of I-DEAS when it is used to solve complicated engineering problems. The paper also offers a useful reference to the design and analysis of engine's parts, and settles a base for realizing the CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) of the engine's parts. The paper makes a three dimension numerical simulation to the cool water of the combustion by means of FLUENT software. The result can help us realize temperature distribution of cool water and chamber's wall. and provides a theoretic instruction for design and optimization of the combustion chamber.
