Asphalt treated base(for short ATB), different from semi-rigid base which is often used in our country, belongs to the category of flexible base. ATB has great shearing strength and good capability of fatigue resistance, and can control and reduce reflecting crack. Using ATB is economical and can bring fine pavement performances.Through parallel trial studying Marshall hit and circumrotate press molding, traditional Marshall design method and mechanics index method, the paper brings forward the molding method for ATB mixture. In the decade, the asphalt pavement with semi-rigid base has been used widely in our country, but the problems of reflection cracking and water damage have not been solved properly. Based on analysis of the mechanics of reflection cracking, researches on the pavement performances of ATB mixture , which include mechanical properties , high-temperature stability, low-temperature anti-cracking performance and fatigue resistance, are conducted in this paper. Finally, Considering the difficulty of constructing a thick layer of mixture, the paper discusses the construction control technology for a single thick ATB mixture layer, and reasonable compaction thickness is proposed.
