Intelligent Home network is developing rapidly due to the great achievements in computer scienceand communication technology. Home Automation is going closer and closer to people's daily life.The application of Home Automation Network is mature in USA, Europe and Japan. But theHome Automation Network doesn't have astandard for historical and economic reasons. At present there are dozens of worldwide HomeAutomation protocols competing for the global market, and domestic research and development inthis area has already started. The standard of Home automation network is in its infancy.Driven by large market requirements, we chose the No.l Home Automation protocol inEurope-European Installation Bus (EIB) as research object. Based on in-depth study of EIBprotocol, we successfully developed the binary input detect module, and finished the hardwaredesign and software design of Dimming module and Switching module. The development of thesebus devices enlarges the chance that EIB becomes popular in China.The paper consists of three chapters:Chapter 1 introduces the background knowledge in Home Automation (HA) Network, andintroduces several most popular HA protocols such as CEBus, BACnet, Zigbee.Chapter 2 describes EIB network topology, bus devices and the model of EIB protocol. Then itintroduces the recent development of EIB protocol and association, discusses main characteristicsof KNX-the new EIB.Chapter 3 describes the process of development of EIB binary input module, based on EIBcommunication chip-BCU1 of Siemens.Chapter 4 describes the development of Dimming module. Including the design of power factorcorrect and the analysis of implementing A/D converter through PWM. Then the software designis discussed.Chapter 5 gives the hardware and software design of Switching module, which is used to driveBinary output module, dimming module and shutter modulate software design is the challenge.Chapter 8 draws conclusion of the whole paper, and gives advices and plans for the R&D of EIBnetwork in the future.
