The unit of protection measurement and control is a very important part of the substation automation system, which plays a very important role in the field of safety and stability in the electric power system.DSP(Digital Signal Processor) is a very appropriate kind of microprocessor for processing digital signal. It is mainly used to quickly implement many kinds of schemes of digital signal processing. Compared with the traditional method of using microchip controller, the functions of protection, measurement and control may be integrated in single unit by using DSP. It simplifies the system structure, improves system reliability and decreases the substation investment. The project is established in this background.This paper focuses on the design and realization of a novel unit of protection, measurement and control, which gives out the design of a general system based on TMS320FC206. It describes the system's composition, protection principle and realization scheme of hardware in detail. Then aiming at the special environment of the substation, it introduces the communication scheme and the EMC design emphatically.This system was tested strictly in the Protection Test Center of the National Electrical Power Company. During the trial operation ,the system works steadily and reliably.
