Some of the malignant shipwreck shock the world and make hundreds of people died.When shipwreck occurs, sometime the survival rescue can't be carried out effectively due to the reason of communication or far away from the site of accident. In this case, the most effective way for the crews is self rescue. And the lifesaving equipment will play an important role when ship's crew abandon the ship.For all the lifesaving equipment in the ship, Lifeboat & davit have the advantages of big capacity, more safety, more effective, escape from abandon ship with self power.Now there are many types of davit equipped in the ship, such as gravity, slide, arm linked, arm rotation, A-frame and flat-push type. For all the above mentioned types, the lifeboat launching is rely on self gravity guiding the wire fall to sea water with complicated operation and slowing launching speed. And by these ways it takes long time for launching the lifeboat to the sea.This article is the developing and design on a new type of lifeboat launching device. The lifeboat go into the water is still by its own gravity, but the launching method is free fall. So the davit can be called freefall davit. In the emergency condition, after all the stuffs go onboard lifeboat swiftly, the operator inside lifeboat will open the release hook. The lifeboat breaks away with davit immediately, slide alone the davit ramp, and then go into the water. This process only last for a few second, and shortened the escape time greatly.This article is based on the research and the test of prototype product. And makes the design for the complete set of freefall davit. It contains main structure (ramp frame, turning arm, release unit, fastening unit, ramp roller device, wire rope system and so on), electric control system, hydraulic system, other necessary accessories. The result of test on the prototype product shows that this type of free fall davit can realize required action, and satisfy the regulation requirements.
