With the rapid development of China's aviation industry, air traffic flow continues to grow, flight delays and congestion is becoming worse. Especially in the terminal area weather conditions are extreme cases, the airport capacity decreases, causing a large number of flight delays. This will not only result in huge economic losses, but also a serious threat to flight safety, greatly increasing the burden on air traffic controllers. Air Traffic Flow Management is to solve air traffic congestion problems of the most effective and most economical means. As Air Traffic Flow Management as an important means to optimize the flight of the terminal area sequencing will allow the limited resources of the terminal area to accommodate more flights.Paper first describes the system's basic knowledge of Air Traffic Flow Management, including content, composition and measures; also contains a summary description of Air Traffic Flow Management at home and abroad, as well as the various research problems; the chapter Finally, the Terminal Area Traffic Management in a brief introduction.The paper also describes in detail the concept and characteristics of genetic algorithms, introduced the development of genetic algorithms and applications; a brief description of the genetic algorithm model and schema theorem. The chapter concluded that the genetic algorithm to solve the terminal area flight sequencing problems and difficulties encountered.Paper analyzes terminal area sequencing models at home and abroad, and identifies the advantages and disadvantages of these algorithms. In conjunction with the flight of China's airspace and air traffic development in the actual situation, proposed to the terminal area flight slots allocated for the purpose of sequencing algorithms, adaptive genetic algorithm for computing the process model to solve a number of cases, there is the airport runway capacity constraints of the terminal Area flight assignment of the corresponding runway and runway occupancy time slot.
