Astragalus membranaceus Bunge is one of the commonly used Chinese traditional medicines. Astragalus mongholicus Bunge is a variation of Astragalus membranaceus Bunge and belongs to one of officinal Bunge. It is very beneficial to human health such as diuresis, detoxity, detumafaction, astringing boils and promoting tissue regeneration. etc.The alcohol extracts of Astragalus monoholicus Bge, extracted with petroleum ether,ethyl acetate,n-butanol acording to the different polarity of solvent,the extracts of petroleum-ether phase(ASP) ethyl-acetate phase(ASE), n-butanol phase (ASB)and water phase (ASW) were obtained respectively.Finding that they all can scavenge the l,l-Diphenyl-2-Picryl-Hydrazyl (DPPH) free radicals to the certain extent.However,ASE showed the best effect, the scavenging activity is 50% approximately.Observing protection of the extracts to the PC 12 cells oxidation damage induced by H2O2,the results show that AS ASP ASB ASW ASE all have protection activities which are 68.76% 57.84% 66.84% 62.56% 53.57% respectively,the corresponding valid dosage concentration is 50 100 100 200 100ug/ml.The extracts were isolated by traditional separation and purification methods.23 mono-compounds were obtained.After analysis by chemical method and modern spectrum technology including UV MS and NMR,we confirm their chemical structure,they are formononeti,ononin,calycosin, D-glucoside, 9,10-dimethoxypterocarpan-3-O-B-D-glucoside, adenosine calycosin-7-O-B-D-glucoside,pinitoh daucosterol, B-sitostero and saccharose respectively. The compound ononim adenosine pinitol were first found in this plant.
