Saral Sakar’s Eco-socialist Ideology And Chinese Interpretation

At the second half of the twentieth century, with the development of the modern technology improving the productivity greatly, the products are becoming more and more abundant. Meanwhile, the problem of environment is growing prominent, no matter in the capitalist country or in the socialist state. The development of productivity is supposed to provide adequate material foundation for the climate governance, however, the truth is this problem is more serious. Troubling many domestic and foreign scholars, this question forces them to focus on the survival environment of human. Hence, ecological problem is their knotty issue. Saral Sarkar, as one of the most representative scholars in the field of Ecological Socialism, according to his own knowledge and other scholars’ writings, found out thatthe cause of ecological failure is not only the industrialized production, but morality. the classical socialism of the Soviet Union can not avoid the environmental problem, and that ecological capitalism and environmental protection are contradictory.In this case, the task of building an ecological socialism must start from the present.In this paper, with reference to domestic and foreign scholars’ thoughts of Sakar Ecological Socialism, starting from the demands of the times of ecological socialism ideology of Sakar, the social background and theoretical origin of the idea is analyzed. With the human survival crisis, the German Green Party lost and errors of classical socialism, the Sakar thoughts emerge as the times require. Sakar’s idea draws on Marx’s critical theory, but also inherits the theory of ecological crisis of Frankfurt school. In addition, Hardin “the tragedy of the commons” point of view also enrich the connotation of Sakar. The writing of this paper focuses on analysis of the comprehensive ecological socialism thought of Sakar. Setting Soviet Union as an example, Sakar explains the reason of the collapse of Soviet classical socialism mansion from three aspects. The first one is the growth limit; the second is the deterioration of ecology; and the third is the moral decay. Sakar himself discusses the irrationality of ecological capitalism from many aspects, but I mainly analyses and concludes three points. One is the market power of the ecological. The second is the plight of the ecological Keynesian.The third is the logic of capitalism. Since classical socialist society can not continue, eco capitalism is also contradictory, Sarkar proposed a "third way", that is, ecological socialism. In the idea of the ecological socialist society, the economy is sustainable, the state fully protect the people’s equal and democratic rights, the people’s moral level is also very high. On the whole, Sarkar’s ideological expanded the connotation of socialism, pointed out that the new path of socialist development, and enrich the theory of Marx’s Critique. But its claims of zero economic growth, small scale production and rely on the moral role restrict his thought, which has strong color of "Utopia", so he is only among the non-scientific socialism. However, we can still draw on the reasonable parts of its ideology, develop the steady economy, impose ecological tax and cultivate ecological people to ease the environmental problems in China. Our country is in the crucial stage of reform, handling and resolving social contradictions. Ecological civilization, political civilization as the core to advance the construction of the beautiful China, making China an invincible position in the competition among the two systems.
