| Derek Wall is a primary representative of Eco-socialism in Europe. In the 1990s and the beginning of the 21st century, as green movement has grown but not efficient, Wall learns ecological ideas from Marxism and green movement. He summarizes gains and losses of the ecological movements and gradually puts forward his own eco-socialist system. This paper fully examines Wall’s theory of eco-socialist and tries to make a fair comment.The first part of this article introduces the background, current situation and significance of Wall’s thought of eco-socialist. Then on this basis, I put forward the general ideas and main methods of this article.The second part of this article mainly introduces the origin of Wall’s thought of eco-socialism. First, Wall’s thought of eco-socialism draw lessons from Marxism and western trends of environmental protection. They are the causes of Wall’s thought. Second, the ecological crisis of capitalism and environment protection movement are practical basis of Wall’s thought. In the middle of last century, especially in 1990s, the ecological crisis of capital country developed the green movement, the people of developing country also took part in that movement. This has provided motive and ideas material for Wall’s thinking.The third part of this article mainly introduces the main content of Wall’s thought. Wall’s eco-socialism theory mainly includes two parts. One is historical trends of eco-socialism; the other is eco-socialism’s blueprint. Wall thinks that the historical trends of eco-socialism mainly performance at three parts:the capital’s nature anti-ecological, economics’ unsustainable and the inner absolute of eco-socialism’s. Wall criticizes capitalism’s ecological crisis, the society unfair and the globalization’s nature. The transformation to eco-socialism from capitalism is absolute. Wall describes rules, economic pattern and technology foundation of eco-socialism blueprint. Wall believes that the rules include ecological rules, common rules, democracy rules, autonomy rules and cares. The economy pattern is local economic and the traditional technology is foundation. I believe that Wall’s eco-socialism is a Utopia.The fourth part of this article mainly introduces the transitions of eco-socialism, the practice of eco-socialism and radical anti-capitalism movement. Wall thinks that eco-socialism is not built in a day. The transitions should be radical and practical. Some countries of Latin American are the specific performances of eco-socialism.The fifth part of this article summarizes Wall’s thought of eco-socialism. I think that we could not accept wall’s all thought, but his thought has some enlightenment for China. First, we should make the economy sustainable and ecological. Second, we should build ecological rationality. Third,develop moderate technology. Fourth, insist on the combination of ecologic and socialism. |
