Mine Tailing is a secondary type resource which can be re-used and full of precious scarce things. It is a priceless asset, also a potential problem to world environment. If we can handle and use it in a reasonable way, there will be unpredictable benefits we will get from it. This paper is about the effect of flocculent on Mine tailing settling velocity. The main contents include the following three aspects.(1) On the basis of the previous research results, selected the different mining areas, experimental apparatus, experimental materials, and experimental method and the experimental data in minerals recovery operation. With the help of Excel, Origin and other data processing software, analyzing the influence of the type of flocculants, flocculent dosage, pulp concentration, PH value and temperature on laws of tailing sedimentation rate.(2) Analyses the effect of flocculent on the sedimentation rate and the influence of using different kinds of flocculent and the same flocculent in different dosage on settlement rule. According to it concluded that under the condition of considering economy the best choice for the rapid subsidence is the mixing flocculating. As to the best dose range of flocculants, there is a big difference between each other.(3) On the obtained data, using the famous Sediment movement mechanics theory from professor Qian Ning, establish a simple and reasonable formula of tailings sedimentation rate. Through the simple calculate the concrete example, analyze the difference of the theoretical calculation result and the experimental data, can exactly verify its feasibility in tailings processing projects. After that we will give a simple integral operation to the form formula.By that can get a calculation formula for the settlement of the upper clear liquid height which is very convenient for mineral processing.In this paper, through the above research can know the major factors that affecting tailing downhill contain the adding kinds of flocculants, flocculent dosage, pulp concentration, PH, temperature and so on. The effect that they have on the sinking speed are overall consistent, with the increase of their own the sinking speed is also increasing until they reach to the critical value the settlement rate will not be affected by these factors. During all kinds of factors,the most important one is the flocculent which can effectively improve the rate of settlement tailings, especially in the application of mixed flocculants. Microbial flocculants can get the largest benefits for the settlement tailings, but due to various factors that make its application in this field is limited. So there has a spacious for Microbial flocculants in the settlement tailing area. Through the simple calculation and analysis, can concluded that the calculation formula which basis on the sediment movement mechanics theory is relatively reasonable. And after the contrast to the date, between the clear liquid height which get from calculating and the results by experiment, conclude that the calculation formula is reasonable can be used widely in tailing disposal. It is this which makes the high efficiency, low cost of tailings disposal impossible.
