China is the home of tea. It’s very common to offer optional courses on tea culture in Chinese universities. Courses on tea culture are helpful to perfect students’ knowledge structure and enhance students’ self-cultivation. Based on traditional teaching mode, courses on tea culture need to learn from advanced teaching methods to gain recognition from teachers and students. Interactive teaching method has been applied to many disciplines in China and it has shown significant advantage. If interactive method can be applied to tea culture teaching, students will participate in the teaching process actively, their interest in tea culture will be aroused and their independent thinking will be cultivated. It also provides students with means to cultivate their ability to look for problems and solve problems. The application of interactive teaching method to courses of tea culture helps to upgrade the quality of teaching and improve student’s capacity and overall quality.This dissertation reports the present research situation of interactive teaching method and its basic theory. On the basis of constructivism theory, humanistic theory, multiple intelligence theory, social interactive theory and zone of proximal development, questionnaires and observation to students and teachers in courses of tea culture are conducted to sum up the present teaching situation of tea course. The following problems are found: students are used to accepting knowledge passively; students lack of the awareness of active thinking; there is little communication between students and the teacher in class; there are very few interactive activities among students and between students and the the teacher. This research study consists of two sections: interactive teaching based on questions and interactive teaching based on activities, which are applied to the theory explanation period and the practice process respectively. The empirical analysis shows that interactive teaching method can inspire students’ passion in learning, cultivate their ability to look for, explore and solve problems. It can also promote the harmonious relations between students and teachers and between students themselves.The application of interactive teaching method to courses on tea culture is in test stage. Therefore, there are still some difficulties and problems in the exploration. This dissertation propose some practicable suggestions to the application of interactive teaching method to courses on tea culture. All in all, interactive teaching method provides a new idea to the improvement and development of courses on tea culture in the future. It also contribute a new approach to upgrade the quality of tea culture teaching.
