The directional wave spectrum has great value in wave and related research fields, and it can be obtained by the wave measurement array which is a common method. This paper pays more attention to three aspects of measurement array: spectrum estimation algorithm, array forms and observation methods.1. This paper briefly describes the wave spectrum and the simulation based on spectrum principle.2. The four spectrum algorithms are described in detail, and some problems in practical application are discussed.3. By means of numerical simulation, the technology of array is studied. The effect of spacing between gauges, algorithms, frequency range of the wave on accuracy of estimation is evaluated through analysis of the spectra of multi-directional wave and mono-direction wave. The conclusion has a certain reference value.4. It is the first time that the array algorithms are applied to the Active Images at home. Based on the power spectrum of the pixels and the anterior conclusion, an appropriate pixels array is designed, and then the BDM and EMLM method are used to process pixels data. The results of the average angle calculation are in concordance with the observation. Finally, the discussions and suggestions on the pixels array method are described in detail and of great value for further research. This paper studies the technology of array measurement, and introduces a new way of wave observation. It is an effective, convenient and low cost method for wave observation and directional spectra calculation, and it has wide application perspective.
