The 21st century is the Ocean Century and people pay more attention to the exploitation of ocean for getting more resources. The exploitation involves many aspects and wave is one of the most important one among them. Directional Wave Buoy is one of the most important members in the project of ocean monitoring technology standardization in the National 863 Program. SZF Directional Wave Buoy is developed by Ocean University of China, which is a removal system that can measure wave direction, wave height and wave period. The buoy was developed in the 9th Five-Year Plan and standardized at the end of 10th Five-Year Plan. This paper develops methods of original buoy data processing and wave spectrum estimation, and designs data analysis software for SZF Buoy based on these methods.This paper discusses in detail the research work of filters for wave data, common methods of power spectrum estimation and common methods of directional spectrum estimation, and gives conclusion: FIR filter, periodogram method for power spectrum estimation and EEV method for directional spectrum estimation are selected. This paper introduces how to analyze original data by the three methods, and how to design the data analysis software for SZF Buoy in detail:The software is programmed in VC++6.0 mainly, and combination programming (VC++ and MATLAB) is used. At the end of this paper, it gives the results of processing original data by the data analysis software. The results show that the methods selected are reasonable and the software meet requirements.
