Space, thematic attribute and time are the three basic characteristics of geographical phenomena or the essential data types of GIS database. Conventional GIS only describes the geographical space statically with space and thematic attributes. So we call it conventional GIS. With the dramatic increase of geographic information, especially the wide use of time dimension, human began to make scientific researches on Temporal GIS.Temporal GIS can offer the tools that model and analyze the space, time and thematic attribute, and hold the history or forecast the future of geographical events. How to combine the historical geographic data and the current data and manage them dynamically becomes an urgent problem to be solved. The thesis introduced the content about spatio-temporal modeling first. From human cognition to the real world, we introduced the concepts of space and time in geographical world, and discussed some important and basic notion, such as the time model, time representation and time granularity, which related with the spatio-temporal model. Database time types and the relationship between database time and bitemporal database has been discussed. Combining the space and time, the notion of spatio-temporal model was educed. Paper reviewed the spatio-temporal conceptual models that have been developed and pointed out their characteristics. Based on above research, the integrated spatio-temporal data model based on dynamic correlation was proposed and implemented. Finally, some conclusions as well as problems for further study were put forward.
