The Emprical Studies Of Knowledge Spillover, Human Capital To Regional Economic Growth

There is no doubt that technological progress plays an important role on economic growth.During knowledge ecomomics times,only by the science and technology progress could the underdeveloped countries and regions achieve industrialization and economic sustainable development rapidly.One the one hand, improving technological progress depends on internal innovation and accumulation of knowledge.on the other hand,it also can achieve by the knowledge spillover from developed countries.Therefore,this article studied knowledge spillovers between regions of a country, and international technology spillovers between countries,to analyse their influnce on the china's regional economic development.This article used R&D knowledge spillovers and FDI spillover to measure the inter-regional knowledge spillovers and international technological spillovers.First, the paper elaborated the theory of knowledge spillover and FDI spillover and its development context, and analyzed the mechanism of how knowledge spillover influenced the economic growth.Secondly, it analysed the situation and devolepment of R&D investment foreign direct investment and human capital of China in recent years.A comparation between East, Middle and West of Chinawas was also used in the analysis.As to the empirical analysis, this paper measured the technological knowledge stock of R&D inverstment of each province by using Chinese provincial panel data from 1996 to 2008.Then based on the previous studies about the technology spillover models, a comprehensive modle is established concerning stock of R&D inverstment,technology spillovers,human capital as well as FDI spillovers.A quantitative analysis is also used during the study. Results showed that:the stocks of knowledge and FDI have contributed a lot to economic growth, and the technological spillover between the provinces also has an important influence on the economic growth.As to the region economy, eastern country benefit more from the spillovers.However, the benefit of FDI spillovers differs among regions.At last, according to the results of the research and the actual situation of China, the article puts forward some policy suggestions to help narrow the gap between regional economic developments,and promote a health, harmonious and sustainable economic development.
