The Strategic Analysis Of Ncmedri's EPC General Contract Model

The EPC model is a new mode of general contracting projects in the international project contracting market, it is also a Contracts mode which being strong promote in the country by The Construction Department. With the matured of domestic EPC general Contracting market, a growing number of professional industrial design institute has begun to enter the field of general contracting works. How to convert professional design institute into an international engineering company in EPC general contract mode successfully to get profits of the whole industry chain and become larger and stronger, is becoming an important research subject. I take the case of North China Municipal Engineering Design & Research Institute (NCMEDRI) for example for further discussion and research.First, this thesis makes an engineering industry analysis of NCMEDRI at home and abroad at present, and compares its advantages and disadvantages to evaluate the situation. Second, it recalls the definition, characteristics, and origins of EPC contract mode. I investigate the development paths and experiences of engineering companies of EPC general contract mode home and abroad. Finally, by adopting the method of case analysis, taken NCMEDRI for example, I make the conclusion that only the EPC general contracting mode leaded by professional design institutes is the way of large-scale construction companies.Overall, this thesis chooses the study of EPC general contract mode based on professional institutes as the starting point and end-result, through the theoretical analysis and practical tests, concluding that the reform professional design institute to EPC enterprise is necessary and inevitable. Secondly, the design units should adjust the organizational structure, and a series of reform to have EPC-based engineering company's policy conditions. Finally, it should be set specialized management and technical personnel in order to have the talent and technical reserve forces.
