Today's organization is widely recognized that high performers are not necessarily the skills prominent persons, not necessarily how high IQ people, but those who are good at dealing with the relationship between our own and others people. Since 1990, Salovey and Mayer have proposed the concept of emotional intelligence, emotional intelligence's important role in people's growth and success gain more attention from people. The emergence and widespread application of emotional intelligence to prove the individual's success depends not just on intelligence, expertise and other well-known ability, it also depends on the emotional capacities.The relationship between emotional intelligence and employee performance is the hot issue of the study of organizational behavior. Many scholars at home and abroad has studied the issue. However, the existing study has been more about the relationship between emotional intelligence and task performance, and different researchers have different views on the structure of emotional intelligence and employee performance, they use different models, the results of the researches are also different.This thesis regards the employees of the Four State-owned Commercial Bank in Chengdu as the given research objects and finds out the basic status of employees'emotional intelligence and employee performance and researches the relationship between the emotional intelligence and employee performance. At the basis of predecessors'studies, the questionnaire named "The Questionnaire of emotional intelligence and employee performance" has been written. And more than 200 employees of the Four State-owned Commercial Bank in Chengdu participated in the survey by the questionnaire and 191 effectual questionnaires had been taken back. The thesis used SPSS15.0 to analyze the specimen data and worked out the existing condition of emotional intelligence and employee performance of the Four Chengdu State-owned Commercial Bank employees. And the influence between the vital statistics variables of emotional intelligence and employee performance had been analyzed. The relativity and causality between the emotional intelligence and employee performance had been researched in turn. And this research had validated the suppositions and given the conclusion as follows:(1) The emotional intelligence of the Four Chengdu State-owned Commercial Bank employees has four factors that are "The evaluation and expression of one's own emotions" "monitoring one's own emotion" " evaluation and identification of other people's emotion" "the use of emotion to achieve self-motivation". The employee performance has three factors that are "Interpersonal Facilitation" "task" "work dedication".(2)The different attributes of the Four Chengdu State-owned Commercial Bank employees affect the emotional intelligence and employee performance, and the effects have distinct diversity.(3)The relationship between the emotional intelligence and employee performance is a positive correlation. Their correlations are as follows: (4)The relationship between emotional intelligence and employee performance is causality. Equations are as follows:P1 (Interpersonal Facilitation)=-0.002+0.268E4 (the use of emotion to achieve self-motivation)P2 (task)=0.011+0.121E1 (the evaluation and expression of one's own emotions)+0.241E2 (monitoring one's own emotion)+0.126E3 (evaluation and identification of other people's emotion)P3 (work dedication)=0.001+0.240E1(the evaluation and expression of one's own emotions)+0.132E2 (monitoring one's own emotion)+0.207E3 (evaluation and identification of other people's emotion)+0.335E4 (the use of emotion to achieve self-motivation)(5)Comparing the effect of the factors of emotional intelligence with the employee performance, the effect of "monitoring one's own emotion" is more distinct than "The evaluation and expression of one's own emotions" and " evaluation and identification of other people's emotion" to "task"; "the use of emotion to achieve self-motivation" is more distinct than other three factors of emotional intelligence to "work dedication".In conclusion, this thesis takes advices about improving the employees' emotional intelligence of the Four Chengdu State-owned Commercial Bank in order to upgrade their employee performance,and also gives some advices to the latter researches according to the research conclusion.
