A Research Of Supplier Selection And Management In Company XY (Shanghai)

With severe competition in modern market environment, all enterprises in various industries are facing with many threats from various aspects. All enterprises in automotive field are the same. In order to get more market shares, all car makers have requested all component suppliers in supply chain to implement technology innovation, cost reduction and service improvement. Therefore, supply chain activity has become more and more important. Supplier selection and management activity is one important part in supply chain no matter this activity is for automotive components suppliers or car makers.This paper carries out a research for supplier selection and management of XY Shanghai, a component manufacturer in automotive filed. Firstly, this paper sums up strategic theories and theories related to supplier selection and management. Then, it details existing process of supplier selection and management about XY Shanghai, pointing out good points and problems respectively. After that, from standpoint of strategic management, it discusses a supplier development strategy which should comply with XY Shanghai's company strategy and an optimization approach for XY Shanghai's supplier selection and management process. Meanwhile, it gives practical supplier selection and management process. The research result in this paper is useful for XY Shanghai and similar enterprises.
