In recent years, wood safety is gradually put into agenda. The timber resources can be cut in China are relatively few, and more and more countries strengthen the protection of forest resources, the difficulty to obtain wood products is getting greater and greater. Facing growing timber demand, China's wood processing industry is heavily influenced. At the same time, our regional development is uneven. The level of forestry industry and marketization is high in the eastern region, and the wood processing industry lies in the front ranks; due to its rich forest resources, there is a great potential for the development of processing industry in the west region; the central region is relatively under-developed, but the pace is accelerating. Construction according to different regions in needed by our wood processing industry.Based on the introduction of general trait of China's wood processing industry, the article analyzed the present situation and characteristics of the Four Regions. To take a step further, it studied the industry competitive level in different regions, the main factors affecting industrial competitiveness, and the contribution of wood processing industry to regional forestry industry and the forestry economy. Finally, we did the empirical research by use quantitative analysis and cluster analysis methods, based on which, brought specific measures and suggestions about improve the competitiveness strength of China's timber processing industry. The research shows that wood processing industry has a great influence on China's forestry industry, and there are significant differences among the provinces. Coastal regions are far better than central and western regions. The top five provinces are Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Fujian, all of which are close with the ocean. The worst five provinces are Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, all of which are inland areas. In addition, the wood processing industry has great dependence on resources and markets. We should improve technological content, promote regional lateral union, make reasonable industrial scale and layout, therefore, enhance the general competitiveness. For the eastern region, solidifying economic advantages and promoting eco-construction are necessary measures. The central region has to accelerate upgrading of the industrial structure, so as to increase added value of products. There are rich forestry resources in the west, so we must turn the resources into industries treasure, grasping the West Development. In northeast China, readjusting industrial structure is the most important measure. Consequently, strive for all-round development of our wood processing industry.
