The Study On Competitiveness Promotion Of Wood-Processing Industry In Jilin Province

Wood is the only renewable one as a member of world’s four basic materials. Wooden products are absolutely necessary for people’s daily life. The wood-processing industry, whose development has been a significant impact for health of the national economy, has become Chinese important industrial base based on wood. Jilin Province, which is one of the country’s major timber production bases, is rich in forest resources. The development of the wood-processing industry in Jilin Province plays a very important role to develop forestry industry, increase farmers’ income and promote the development of social economy. However, in recent years, the implementation of natural forest protection project in Jilin makes wood raw material supply short and there are many problems such as low utilization rate, irrational distribution and less intensive processing products of wood in the wood-processing industry, which restricts the development of the wood processing industry in Jilin Province. In this context, it is an urgent problem to solve that to enhance the competitiveness of the wood processing industry using its advantages in Jilin Province.This article describes the background, purpose and significance of related researches and analyzes the development status of the wood-processing industry in Jilin Province briefly. Based on industrial competitiveness theory and combined with the characteristics of the wood-processing industry development in Jilin Province, this article constructs a competitiveness evaluation index system of the wood processing industry and analyzes and assesses the four factors and comprehensive measurement of the wood-processing industry in our country’s 31 provinces by factor analysis, based on which the author puts forward policies and recommendations to improve the competitiveness of the wood-processing industry in Jilin Province finally.There are the following conclusions after the research of the author:First, comprehensive competitiveness of the wood-processing industry stays at the middle level in Jilin Province, which is not coordinated with its rich forest resources. There is a lot of room to improve because the overall development of the wood processing industry is not very good.Second, the main factor affecting the competitiveness of the wood-processing industry is the industrial scale factor. The competitive of the industrial scale factor, one of the four factors of the wood-processing industry in Jilin Province, is weakest and lower than the national average. To expand the industrial scale and distribute rationally is primary to enhance the competitiveness of the wood-processing industry in Jilin Province.Third, the competitive of resource factor in Jilin is good and depends on ri ch forest resources of Jilin Province.Fourth, in Jilin Province, competitiveness of the demand factor of the wood-processing industry and the support factor from related industries is relatively weaker and lower than the national average, which declares that the demand of residents in Jilin Province for wood processing products is relatively low and the related wood-processing industry has a weak development.This paper proposes to expand the industrial scale and layout, to support th e development of related wood-processing industries, to develop the artificial c ultivation of timber, to increase investment in technology of the wood-processin g industry and so on by combining the conclusions from econometric analysis with the development status of the wood-processing industry in Jilin Province a nd drawing on the experience of other provinces in the rapid development of t he wood-processing industry, which promotes the rapid development of the wo od-processing industry in Jilin Province.
