The paper《The Urban Planning History of Modern Dandong and Its Implications》is the research about modern times urban planning history. The urban form pattern and driving forces of each development phase of Dandong is analyzed, including the development of the Port District of the Old Town, two phases of planning and development of the Japanese South Manchuria Railway (SMR) Zone, the opening of Dongkanzi Port District and the expansion and urban improvement of the Old Town. The paper makes comparative study on the city location, street layout, transportation, infrastructure, development codes, district functions, and block sizes. Additionally, the paper discusses some phenomena and problems of the urban form, in the process of the Old Town improvement and the new port district planning in the Chinese zone, in a manner to imitate the development model of the SMR zone. At the same time, this article has also analyzed the two plans that Japanese implementation: Andong Yi and Dadonggang Yi plans. Faces up to aggression nature which Japanese plans, and find the problems at the same time. The comparative external analysis carries on the localization and the plan significance from the region angle to the city, instructs Dandong current urban planning by the time.
