Study On Food Security And The Fundamental Strategy In Hebei Province

Food crises broke out in 37 countries in 2008, caused disturbances, rebellions, even replacements of governments in Haiti and some countries, and triggered a global panic, therefore food security has become the focus of international attention again. It is an important issue influencing national safety and social stability especially to China which has the most population.As one of thirteen most important provinces of food production in China, Hebei Province is also an important food consumption province, it has significant influence for ensuring national food security. This paper, taking the food security situation in Hebei Province as the research object, analyzed the food production history of Hebei, described current situation and level of food security, analyzed latent uncertain factors, and proposed corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.Chapter 1, summarization of food security. Firstly conception of food security and criterion are defined; then relationship of food elasticity and food security, national food security and provincial food security are described. Chapter 2, current conditions of food security are analyzed and future situations of food security are forecasted in Hebei Province. history of food production in Hebei Province is reviewed by mass of data of food production and consumption, conditions and characters of both current food supply and demand are analyzed, also future conditions food supply and demand in Hebei Province are forecasted, accordingly conclusions of current conditions of food security and future situations of food security in Hebei Province are reached. Chapter 3, influencing factors of food security in Hebei Province.the influencing the food security of Hebei Province, are analyzed in aspects both food demand and food supply. Chapter 4, countermeasures in food security of America, the European Union, Japan, and Henan Province are introduced. Chapter 5, based on the above analysis, some countermeasures for ensuring food security of Hebei province are proposed.
