Food security is the vital basis of national security. Food problems, together with the issues of farmers’ income growth rate, rural land, rural social undertakings development and farmers’ rights and interests protection, are the five main problems of “three rural issues”, and they are also eternal economic, social and ecological problems. Food security involves production, consumption and circulation, which is a complex system. Along with the increasingly deep globalization trend, as well as the integration of the China economy and WTO rules, the increasing economic interdependency of sovereign state which leads the uncertain factors impact on national economic security continuously increasing. Food security faces lots of challenge of uncertainty, food trade has gradually become the crucial factor which will influence the food security. While nowadays, China is the first food importing country, food trade plays an increasingly important role in ensuring the food security.Food security, as a world problem, domestic and foreign literatures do quite a few researches on food security of China, such as Lester Brown, William Engdahl, Wood Tian Mingfu. Under this background, there are important practical significance and theory significance studying contemporary food security of China. Food security is a dynamically developing concept, which needs to combine development trend of foreign economic society and consideration of domestic economic society under the New Normal. On the major premise of food trade, this paper conduct a study on food supply and demand of China, food importing trade, and some other issues through the method of theoretical analysis, statistic analysis and empirical analysis, and put forward policies and suggestions which contribute to Chinese food security and agricultural sustainable development.On the basis of reviewing and summarizing the related literature both domestic and abroad, this paper explores the problems of current food security of our country from the perspective of trading and seeks for the solving strategies. In the process of study, this article is divided into nine chapters, and the content of analysis could be summarized as follows:The first chapter is prolegomena. Through summarizing the studying results of former scholars, this paper decides to analyse the food security from the perspective of trading, and set up the studying framework of this paper.The second chapter studies the impact of Chinese food trade on food security, and generalizes the status quo of food importing and exporting of our country, as well as the role of food trading policy of our country, then analyses the close interrelationship of cause and effect between food trade and food security.The third chapter analyses the status quo of food supply and demand of our country. In terms of food demand, it emphatically studies the total food demand, demand structure and related factors. With regard to food supply, it studies the situation of domestic and foreign food production and production layout, in addition to the situation of domestic food reserve.The fourth chapter predicts the total demand for food of our country in the next decade. Through summarizing the research achievements of plenty of scholars, using the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, it calculates the future food demand of our country from the aspects of rations, fodder and industry respectively.The fifth chapter speculates the future changing reasonable range of grain self-sufficiency ratio of our country. According to the fluctuant situation of grain self-sufficiency ratio of our country, and learning from other countries’ experience, also based on survival conditions, nutrition conditions and actual national conditions, it puts forward the forecasting value of future grain self-sufficiency ratio of our country.The sixth chapter analyses the situation of the availability of domestic food production. Set about the factors of domestic food production, it illustrates the yield increasing potential of domestic food production and the development problems.The seventh chapter analyses situation of the availability of food trade. Combined with the situation of international food market and the status quo of Chinese food trade, it explores the opportunities and barriers of future food importing for China.The eighth chapter is based on the comprehensive considerations of food security of our country. It puts forward the policies and suggestions in order to guarantee the food security and stability of our country from three aspects, which are production, trade, and consumption.The ninth chapter is the conclusion and induction of the paper. It further plans the development strategies of food security of our country from the perspective of food trade. It also cards the choroids of the study of this paper again, and states study conclusion of the paper, as well as puts forward the future study outlook.
