Economic growth is always the hot topic of Urban and Regional Economics research. Because of spatial multiplicity of natural resources, geographical location and humanistic environment in China, which impacts the choice of regional economic growth path, Nowadays, more and more researchers pay attention to the regional economic growth. During the 30 years' reform and opening up, China's economy has maintained an average annual growth rate of 9.8 percent over the past three decades, more than three times the world average, which is an economic miracle. Meanwhile, with the pace of Chinese reform and economic growth, the finance is dramatically changing simultaneously, especially the banking industry.Under the spatial panel data modeling framework, this dissertation uses China's provincial panel data covering the period 1990~2007 to do the empirical analysis of banking industry's structure, efficiency and economic growth. By the empirical research, there is close relationship among the banking industry's structure, efficiency and economic growth. In China, the economy grows with the drop of banking centralization and the improvement of banking openness and efficiency, but the effect of banking openness is not enough.According to specific conditions of regional finance and economic growth, this dissertation put forward some suggestions about optimizing the banking industry's structure, improving the efficiency and enhancing the regional cooperation.
