Agro-food quality and safety management is relatively well practiced in Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces locating in coastal developed areas. Agro-food quality and safety management practice in Jiangsu Province was studied and compared with that in Shandong, Zhejiang, Guangdong provinces. Suggestions of improving agro-food quality and safety management in Jiangsu Province were put forward. The main results are as follows:(1) The common aspects in agro-food quality and safety management practices in Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces was strengthening agricultural input and pre-production control , perfecting agricultural standard system, construction of agro-food quality and safety inspection system , practicing agro-food quality and safety market access system, establishing supervision system for agro-food quality and safety, setting and improvement of policies, laws and regulations systems on agro-food quality and safety management, enhancing early warning information system for agro-food quality and safety.(2)Better practices in agro-food quality and safety management in Jiangsu Province compared with that in Shandong, Zhejiang, Guangdong provinces were routine monitoring of agro-food quality and safety , implement of agro-food quality and safety market access system, construction of agro-food quality and safety inspection system , ID management of agro-food , establishment of supervision system for agro-food quality and safety in towns and counties ,construction of agricultural standard demonstration area, building demonstration counties for agro-food quality and safety management.(3)The inspirations to agro-food quality and safety management in Jiangsu Province from practice in Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces were regionalization management of agro-food exports in Shandong Province, Standardization management of fishery and propaganda of agro-food quality and safety in Zhejiang Province, detailed division of responsibility for agro-food quality and safety management in Guangdong Province.(4)Suggestions of improving management of agro-food quality and safety in Jiangsu Province were strengthening of environment protection and construction in agro-food producing area, enhancing technique extension services in safe agro-food production and marketing services for safe agro-food, enforcement of regulation and law for agro-food quality and safety and implement of network responsibility management for agro-food quality and safety .
