Research On The Regional Economic Disparity In Western Provinces Of China

This main line of the thesis is the regional economic disparities of Western provinces. The thesis makes a deep study on the changing process of regional economic disparities. It combines with qualitative and quantitative,positive and normative methods analysis the changes in the process and its influencing factors .The research indicated that: (1) The Western 12 provinces regional per capita GDP and per capita GDP indicate that whether its absolute disparities or relative disparities have a gradually expanding trend from 1978 to 2007. The trend became obvious after 90's, especially after 2000, absolute disparities expand quickly. In particular, the western expansion of regional economic differences is because Qinghai, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, these small but rich in resources and population of provinces, autonomous regions, and Guizhou, Yunnan, Guangxi, Gansu, Tibet and other provinces, autonomous regions, caused the absolute difference expanding. (2) During the year of 1978 to 2007, Southwest regional economy on the absolute difference, especially into the 90s after the 20th century, absolute difference expand rapidly. mainly because the economic absolute differences of Sichuan and Chongqing become increasingly compared with other four provinces. This is because the southwest region in the economic structure of provinces and regions, economic development and industrialization level model has a lot of similarity.(3) In the period from 1978 to 2007, the north-west regional economic differences, whether absolute differences or relative differences has expanding trend, especially after 2000, the absolute difference expanded rapidly. It has great association with other provinces economy development situation. The economy developing rate of Neimenggu, not only in the western region, but in the country are ranked in front. The GDP per capita in Gansu Province, at 30 years of reform and opening up, actually ranked from eleventh to fourth in western region.(4) The thesis analyzed the factor effecting the economic differences in western provinces, results showed that the main two reason are the economic foundation and developing speed. Generally speaking, nation economic policy, Regional economic structure, investment, human resource and economic relation between regions are the main factors leaded to the economic differences in western regions. These factors affected the western region economic developing, the economic differences in western region because the interaction of all the factors.Regional economic disparities will lead to a series of negative impacts. The developed countries' experience show that the excessive expansion in the less developed regions will make it in a adverse position, weaken the primary products supplying ability, decrease market requirements. In a long time, the developed region will be affected because of the undeveloped areas, Eventually cause the level of the whole regional economy decline.On the other hand, economic disparities can cause economic and social instability. Hence, in order to enhance the economic level of the western country as well as the overall economic level, it is necessary to resolve the regional economic disparities in west region. (1) More specific policy should be given to western undeveloped region. (2)The investment should be strengthen to western region.(3)Thought liberation work should be reinforced. (4)Establish rational human resource appointment mechanism.
