A Comparative Study Of Management Staff's Work Values In Non-public Enterprise And State-owned Enterprise

Since the adoption of reform and opening-up policy, a great progress has been made in either Non-public Enterprise or State-owned Enterprise. How to recognize the differences and relations between the two enterprise types has become an important task with both theoretical value and actual significance. Human Resources are the most important part of Enterprise Resources, and management staff is the key of Enterprise Human Resources. Comparing management staffs' work values in Non-public Enterprise and State-owned Enterprise could help resolve "How an enterprise can create a suitable Culture featured with their own characters"; could make reference to Enterprise Human Resources Management; and could give witness on the Chinese economic reform.14 management staffs were interviewed and participated in the program of amending the Work Value Compared survey (WVC), and 193 staffs from 154 enterprises were assessed with the WVC. The results showed that the staffs from State-owned Enterprises were significantly lower than those from Non-public Enterprises in Competence & Growth. But the staffs from State-owned Enterprises were significantly higher than those from Non-public Enterprises in Reputation and Relationship. There was no significant difference in most of other features between the two groups. Basic values, age, size of enterprise are factors influencing the work values of management staffs.Based on those results and the viewpoint that the management staff's work values should match the values of their enterprise this research offered specific suggestions about business management.
