The Fourth Construction Company of SINOPEC is a large enterprise directly under theChina Petrochemica l Engineering Corporation (SINOPEC) and the Grade 1 nationa l constructioncontractor ma inly for petrochemica l construction as well as one of the 33 key large constructionenterprises highly supported by the Ministry of Construction.The thesis takes The Fourth Construction Company of SINOPEC as the research object,seeking to formulate the company's development strategy by utilizing modern strategicma nagement theories and the research methods concerned. The thesis first carries on the internaland the external environment analysis of the company. Two aspects are involved in the externalenvironment analysis: (1) Common macroscopic environment the company is facing, using thePEST analysis method. (2) Carrying on the industria l environment analysis on petrochemica lengineering construction, the company's line of business, using Porter's competition structuralmodel; Carries on the enterprise ability analysis using the functiona l analysis (internalenvironment analysis). Secondly, on the basis of environmental analysis of the company, acomprehensive analysis is made on the strengths and the weaknesses, the opportunity and thethreat that face the company, using SWOT analysis method. Finally, proper competitionstrategy──differentiation strategy is proposed, according to Porter's basic competition strategytheory. Then the writer puts forward the development strategy of the company using SWOTanalysis matrix, together with formulation of the concrete measures to implement corporatedevelopment strategy.In our country the Fourth Construction Company of SINOPEC Corporation is therepresentative enterprise in petrochemica l engineering construction industry. Hopefully theresearch work in this thesis is of reference significa nce for other enterprises in the industry informulating the development strategy.
