Effects Of Land Taking On Peasants' Property Right Consciousness

The system of collective land requisition and land property right are important issues, related to peasants' interests, the rural stability and Urban-rural coordinated development, which have been growing concerned by the government and theorists. However, the research of peasants' land property cognition and choice has gained less attention. With the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization, Reformation in the collective land property right is imperative. Thus, as the subject of collective property right, peasants' choice has direct relation with the results of reform.This paper profits from the existing research results at home and abroad, based on the property right theory of Kos and an almost nationally representative rural data, set of 119 villages in 6 provinces across China collected in 2008, this paper aims to analysis the effects of land Taking on peasants' land property right consciousness.It will be conducive to comprehend peasants' institutional tendency, improve the system of collective land requisition and land property right, protect the interests of peasants and promote utilization efficiency of property right.According to Kos's property rights theory, property cognition is formed in the transaction process, so we proposed the hypothesis that peasants whose family experienced land taking and infringement of rights, would have stronger consciousness of property rights protection and would be is apt to accept land privatization which has being forbidden in China nowadays.First, this paper explains the present system of collective land property right is the main reason why peasants experienced infringement of interests in the process of land taking; second, this paper shows a realistic picture of rural-land taking in China today and peasants' assessment of land privatization by empirical analysis using the sampling survey data; third, applies econometric model and STATA software to estimate the effects of land taking on peasants' land property right consciousness; finally, analysis the result to see if it support the hypothesis...
