Chinese industry becomes more important in the world because of its enormous market potential and low-cost human resources since 1990s, which attracts many multinational companies to build factories. However, Chinese companies always act as"OEM"for others under this situation, most of our companies are middle and lack of technology and self-brands, which are restricted by the other side under OEM. The sixteenth Communist Party conference emphasized that innovation is very vital to scientific developing. Our important goal is to form sets of excellent enterprises which not only have self-knowledge rights but also have self-brands and obvious international competition, and this is no time to delay.Firstly, this paper looks back and reviews previous researches about OEM, then analyzes our OEM companies'development and sums up its characters from the view of industry, on the same time, generalizing characters of OEM enterprises in American and Japan as well as uses for reference. In the fifth part, analyzing our OEM enterprises'strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and treats systematically with SWOT, on this condition putting forward our OEM enterprises'strategic measures which are to cooperate with OEM brand companies in order to improve our OEM companies'competition, then develop to ODM or OBM.
