As part of research for international shipping center, the research on mode of port cluster is positively instructive for building international shipping center. There are many theoretic to be summarized and concluded. This paper studies on the mode of international shipping center's port cluster. The detail is as follows:1. Analyze conception and function of port and port cluster, on this basis, from the Hinge-Network point of view, discuss the evolution and link structure of port cluster. Point out the characteristic of international shipping center's port cluster.2. Introduce the theory of city grade system, and discuss the relation between the city grade system and the combination mode of port cluster. Study on the single center mode and multi-center mode of international shipping center's port cluster. From polarized effect and backwash effect, analyze the reason of different combination mode. And simply analyze how to treat with the relation inside the port cluster.3. Discuss the quantificational methods that are useful to study on the mode of port cluster. Use centralized degree index and primacy degree index to reflect the polarization degree inside the port cluster. Use cluster analysis and locational quotient analysis to study on the hierarchical layout of the port cluster.4. Take Shandong port cluster as demonstration, calculate its centralized degree, and analyze its hierarchical layout. On this basis, give suggestion on mode of Shandong international shipping center's port cluster.This paper choose mode of international shipping center's port cluster as study object. The point of view and conclusion is helpful for building and developing our international shipping center.
