Industrial Cluster Development Based On Social Capital

Cluster is an important factor to the regional economy integration and it has pushed regional economy and global economy greatly. Since Bourdieu defined social capital idea, Coleman and Putnam have developed them further, the social capital has been heatedly discussed in the world. It has the capital character same as material capital and human source capital. The social capital is acting as'binding agent'in the regional economy development. My dissertation will analyze the development of traditional industry cluster basing on the industrial cluster and social capital. The dissertation has the following main points:Firstly, it has stipulated the meaning of social capital, summarized the social capital research status both from abroad and domestically.Secondly, it analyze the construction and character of social capital, and make a special study of social capital on the influence and good function to the traditional industrial cluster. The social capital will improve cooperation between enterprises inside same group, will save cost, will activate group innovation.Thirdly, it analyzes the influence of social capital to the traditional industry cluster economy development. I have defined the social capital into two parts basing on the theory of economy development: the capital from economic development and the capital from network externality of informal social network. I have constructed mathematical models, adding social capital into the traditional Cobb-Douglas system, analyze 2 parts of social capital have positive correlation with traditional industrial cluster development.At last, a case study of Hutang Textile industry' has been made to explain the relation between the social capital and traditional industries clusters.
