The quick development of modern science and technology and industry has brought about blessings to human beings as well as a variety of serious problems such as environmental pollution, destruction of ecology, shortages of energy. So promoting the construction and further development of the eco-industrial park is the key to solving the conflict between environmental protection and economic development and it has attracted the attention of the political circles and the industry and the academy.Eco-industrial park is a new form of industry. Eco-industrial park is designed and operated with theories of ecological industry and clean production. It stresses that all sections should make the best of resources to the maximum, aimed at constructing ecological chains and networks so that the waste emissions will be limited to the minimum and also the harmonious development of economy, society and ecosystem will be realized. Eco-industrial industrial park is the best practice to better use resources and reduce environmental pollution and protecting ecosystem.To begin with, this essay deals with the future development of eco-industrial park at home and abroad. Secondly it analyzes the basic theories that guide the construction and development of the park such as Circular Economy, Industrial Ecology and Clean Production. Thirdly it introduces some features of eco-industrial park system like connotation ,characteristics, structure and functions.Also it talks about the basic principles for its developing strategies, the contents for its design and the main methods and steps for its development. Finally it takes Suzhou Industrial Park as an example, analyzing its successful experiences.
