Since reform and opening up,China's economy and social development has made unprecedented achievements.The people's living standard has been substantially improved. At the same time, China's income distribution pattern and the distribution pattern have gone through fundamental changes.There is a significant gap in income distribution between urban and rural areas,between regions,between different groups.Moreover,this trend is accelebrating in recent years.This gap has its historical roots,but here is also a reasonable aspact.The key cause of this widening gap is the prevailance of the breach of socail fairness and justice since economic and social reform. The socail disparity and widening gap caused by all the factors above does not entirely belong to an economic issue,but also cause social disharmony,which pose a current threat to the country's social stability. Therefore, it is of very significant meaning to carry research on the construction of harmonious society and to promot a fair and reasonable income distribution system.This paper applies modern economic theories to analyze the causes of social disharmony in current distriution areas and try to find a solution to the problem. The text is divided into four parts. The first part explores the sources and development of income distribution theories from a theoretical point of view. The second part analyzes current distribution situation as well as the threat it poses to our country's ecomony through income division and income condition of the middle-class.The third part discusses the key causes of income distribution problems.The fifth part disusses the possible ways and measures to achieve social harmony by theoretically analyzing the relationship between income distribution and social harmony.
