With the rapid development of the internet and the increasing speed of the informationlization, after going through the fast growing period during the internet bubble and the slowdown following the burst of the bubble, Chinese IDC industry has just started the second round of the fast growing period. The research of the IDC business model will provide valuable information to the service providers for the market positioning and the strategy developing in order to have a sustainable growth in the competitive market.The beginning of the article introduces the basic concept of the IDC and the services it can provide, also the current developing state of the internet and IDC are analyzed. Then the basic concept of industrial chain is introduced, components of the IDC industrial chain are analyzed focusing on the major components such as equipment providers, telecom service providers, professional IDC service providers and users. Following that is the overview of the basic concept of the Business Model and IDC service providers are categorized into basic telecom service provider and IDC service provider based on the characteristics of the IDC service provider and the occupation of network resources, the corresponding business models: basic telecom service provider and professional service provider are analyzed. At the end of the article, based on the current Chinese IDC industry developing state, several suggestions have been made: take the opportunity of the 3G market, build green energy conservative IDC, strengthen security management and concentrate on building the service system.
