Green GDP is a new theoretical contribution in the field of national accounting. Currently, experiments and pilots have been taken place in many countries and some provinces in our country. This article focuses on both the theoretical and experimental issues of green GDP.For the starters, this article briefly introduces the development of our country's national accounting system, which evoles from MPS system to the current SNA system. Then, the author points out the problems in the theory and the practice of SNA system, deducing the origin of green GDP as well as its necessity. In this part, the definition and underlying meaning of green GDP, diffierences and similarities between the green GDP and the traditional GDP accouting are researched. Afterwards, experiments in Germany and Taiwan provice of China are also researched, including their situations, experiences and problems.Hereafter, the necessity of the launch of green GDP into our country is discussed, together with its theoretical and experimental situations in our country. At present, 10 provinces of our country has begun with the experiment of green GDP. This article takes Zhejiang and Beijing for case, concretely researching their situations, experiences and problems in the experiments. Finally, the author ponders on the theory and experiment of green GDP. Both review of existing literature and theoretical contributions are made. Three major contributions to the theory are as follows. First, a system of green GDP indicators is outlined. Second, green GDP experiment projects are analyzed through the traditional view on evaluating cadres' performances, which provides a new perspective for both theoretical and experimental studies. Third, resolution for leading problems in green GDP practice is proposed.
